Studio B Gallery Artist - Elaine Batton

elaine batton

Whilst contemporary art often explores diverse concepts, messages and approaches, her work gives a voice to beauty and seeks to ensure that the art of beauty in fine art and nature continues to be explored. Her works celebrate the colour and beauty of nature (portraiture, nature and abstract landscapes) in a unique and vibrant style. Elaine's work has been influenced by nature, colour and paintings from impressionist, renaissance art through to contemporary painterly influences.

Elaine's Vanitas Revisited series considers the beauty and fragile transience of life and memories. Mirroring the gentle shadow and ethereal inevitability of decline, and set against distant reflections of death, these floral images capture the temporal nature of life in a painterly style. The works are influenced by the Dutch Masters and the 17th century Netherlands still life paintings.  Enveloped in chiaroscuro, this imagery explores and celebrates the soulful nature and wonder of our lives.

She has exhibited solo and as part of groups around Australia, and was a finalist in the 2016 & 2017 Bowness Prize and 2016 & 2018 Fremantle Art Centre Print Award. Her work is included in many private and corporate collections.
